What We Do: General Practice Veterinary Medicine

Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hosptial is a full service animal hospital offering a full array of treatments, medical and surgical procedures, preventive care packages, and specialized pet-care products for all small animal pets. Our focus is on delivering high-quality medicine, all the time. And, starting November 2007, we have begun offering holiday boarding on a limited basis.

Who We Serve: Dogs, Cats, Exotics

Our doctors have many years of combined experience dealing with dogs and cats, which happen to be the primary patients we see. However, both Dr. Brandes and Dr. Dayton have experience dealing with a variety of other small mammals, birds, and reptiles. Some of our exotic patients include large birds, 6-foot iguanas, palm-sized turtles and large tortoises, a chicken, a goat, a bearded dragon, snakes, mice, rats, and guinea pigs.

Our Pharmacy

We maintain a full veterinary pharmacy. For rarely utilized pharaceuticals, we can usually place special orders for next-day receipt, at no extra cost. Or, for drugs that are also sold to people, we can call in a script to a human-based pharmacies, such as Vons, CVS, or Costco. Customers seeking a script to be filled at a non-human based pharmacy can either request to have the script mailed, faxed, or emailed to their home.


 

Prescription Foods

While we keep on-hand the nearly full range of Hill's prescription diets, we also carry some from Purina, Eukanuba, and Royal Canin. These are usually ordered on a weekly basis, and, we maintain a list of patients who regularly purchase a paricular type of prescription food to make sure we always have what they need on-hand.
 

Flea, Tick, Heartworm Treatments and Preventatives

Because of the constant threat of fleas, ticks, and heartworms in our area, we carry Advantage, Frontline, Sentinel and Interceptor. We are able to sell all these at below the cost of most Internet retailers, primarily because of the level of efficiency we've gained over the years. Please consult with the doctor to determine which may be most appropriate for your pet.
