Current Job Openings
Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital is looking for compassionate and dedicated applicants to join our amazing team! We are currently hiring for full-time veterinary assistant/technician and receptionist positions.
Veterinary Assistant / Technician
The primary responsibilities of our veterinary assistant / technician position are to support our veterinarians and team, provide compassionate care to our patients, and help deliver an exceptional experience to our clients. You’ll assist the doctors during exams and procedures in accordance with your training and skill level. This includes performing routine lab work, taking radiographs, administering medications and treatments, and assisting with accurate record-keeping. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll be interacting with pet owners - offering updates, guidance, and reassurance with empathy and professionalism. You'll also play a key role in keeping our hospital clean, organized, and running smoothly each day.
Prior experience in a small animal hospital setting is strongly preferred. Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification is not required.
Veterinary Receptionist
The primary responsibility of our veterinary receptionist is to provide exceptional care and customer service to our clients and patients. As the face of our hospital, you will help keep the front desk organized, communicate with clients, and ensure the hospital runs smoothly each day. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, so strong multitasking, organization, communication, and teamwork skills are essential. Daily responsibilities include answering phones, greeting clients, scheduling appointments, processing payments, responding to emails, and completing patient tasks using our PIMS and other computer programs. You will also help maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized hospital environment.
Prior customer service experience is strongly preferred.
Applying
Our ideal candidate is a true team player with a big heart and a passion for helping animals and their people! Applicants should also be organized, dependable, and motivated to advance their knowledge and skills. Experience in the veterinary field is strongly preferred but this requirement may be waived for an otherwise ideal candidate. Compensation is dependent upon prior education and experience.
Strong computer skills and accurate typing are required, as we are a primarily paperless hospital and rely heavily on electronic medical records, email, word processing and spreadsheets. A minimum typing speed of 50 wpm is required, and we recommend submitting a screenshot from typingtest.com.
This position is full-time, consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week, including some Saturdays. The schedule varies, so applicants must be flexible. To be considered, please submit your resume, cover letter, and typing speed to jobs@rsfvets.com. Resumes without a cover letter and typing speed will not be considered.
Student Observer Program
We offer a Student Observer Program for individuals who would like to learn more about the field of veterinary medicine. Student Observers choose their own schedule and typically join us for a morning or afternoon session one to two times a week, for as long as they wish. During their time here, observers may shadow our team during patient appointments, anesthetic procedures (including dentistry, spays, neuters, and various other surgeries), or a combination of both. Please note that this is a strictly observational experience only and does not include any hands-on animal handling or medical work.
Due to a high volume of interest, we have limited availability and are unfortunately unable to accept all applicants into the program. If you are interested in applying for a position, please send your resume and a brief cover letter explaining your interest in veterinary medicine to our management team at managers@rsfvets.com.
